An Advanced Smart Manufacturing Project

The award was given to the project “Inim Smart Manufacturing: AI, Robotics, and Integration, a structured industrial transformation initiative developed in accordance with the Industry 4.0 and 5.0 paradigms.

The project involved a comprehensive redesign of the production line at the Inim plant through the implementation of a fully automated and interconnected system. The project includes:

  • automated vertical warehouses
  • SMT lines with AOI and X-ray inspection
  • PTH lines
  • advanced testing and programming systems
  • assembly, boxing, and packaging lines
  • automated high-bay warehouse

All systems are natively integrated with the company's ERP system and supported by artificial intelligence solutions, which are used for automated technical support, data analysis, batch traceability, and logistics optimization.

Investments, expertise, and measurable results

The production reorganization program required a significant investment in technology, software, and training, accompanied by a major internal reorganization effort.

The project involved cross-functional teams—manufacturing, quality, warehousing, IT, software development, and data analytics—and helped build an operational model based on continuous improvement and the use of objective data.

The results are already evident:

  • +37% improvement in SMT line performance and availability
  • First-Pass Yield improved from 86% to 94%
  • -25% reduction in energy consumption

A Model for an Integrated Digital Factory

A key feature of the project is the creation of a fully integrated digital factory based on advanced automation, modular robotics, and standardized MES/ERP architecture. The model developed by Inim is characterized by scalability and replicability; high operational efficiency; energy sustainability; and traceability throughout the entire production cycle.

An award that confirms our commitment to innovation

The award received in Ancona confirms the path Inim has taken: an approach to industrial innovation that integrates advanced technologies, expertise, and a long-term strategic vision. This model is capable of generating tangible value, strengthening competitiveness, and contributing to the evolution of the Italian manufacturing sector.
